Panama City Beach - Winter Festival Possible?

The Panama City Beach officials are considering an annual winter festival at Pier Park. Imagine outdoor ice-skating at Pier Park, horse-drawn carriage rides along Front Beach Road, gulf beachfront resorts festooned with Christmas lights and a massive fireworks display to ring in the New Year.
“I think it would be a very, very good thing for Panama City Beach,” Mayor Gayle Oberst said this week. “This would be a wonderful way to give the whole month of December over to celebrating the winter season, for tourists and for those of us who live here as well.”
As discussed by the TDC committee, a Pier Park and Front Beach Road festival could include hiring an outside company that would erect an ice-skating rink, install a snowfield for sledding and bring in other attractions such as horse-drawn carriages. Other possible elements include outdoor motion pictures at Aaron Bessant Park, a major Christmas lighting contest for Front Beach Road residences and businesses and a rocking fireworks show on New Year’s Eve. One TDC official even suggested that at midnight on New Year’s Eve there could be a beach ball drop.
What suggestions do you have for the chamber or TDC?
